🆕 Palworld — Getting Started Guide for Beginners

Welcome, Pal Tamer! This guide will take you from your first spawn to defeating the first tower boss — everything you need to thrive in Palworld's dangerous open world.

🥇 Your First 15 Minutes

1️⃣ Wake Up & Gather

You spawn on a beach with nothing. Immediately: - Punch trees for Wood - Pick up stone from the ground - Collect berries from bushes (food!) - Kill a Lamball for wool and meat (use a stick as a club)

2️⃣ Build Your First Workbench

  • Press B to open the build menu
  • Place a Primitive Workbench (5 Wood)
  • Craft a Stone Pickaxe (5 Wood, 5 Stone)
  • Craft a Stone Club (5 Wood, 10 Stone) — your first weapon

3️⃣ Catch Your First Pal

  • Find a Lamball or Cattiva (both common near spawn)
  • Weaken it to ~30% HP with your club
  • Open the Pal Sphere in your inventory
  • Press Q to aim, Left-click to throw
  • Watch the capture animation — success!

💡 Tip: Aim for the back of the Pal for a higher capture chance!

🏠 Building Your First Base

Choosing a Location

Pick a spot that is: - ✅ Flat — you need room for buildings - ✅ Near water — for Pals that need to water crops - ✅ Near ore/stone — early resource nodes - ❌ Not in a Pal spawn zone — they'll attack your base - ✅ Near a fast travel point — the Starting Plateau is perfect

Pal Assignment Basics

Once Pals are in your base's Pal Box: 1. Approach a workstation (e.g., Berry Plantation) 2. Press F to open the assignment menu 3. Select a Pal with the matching work suitability 4. The Pal will automatically work when assigned

💡 Pro Tip: Cattiva is the best early all-rounder — it has Handiwork, Lumbering, Transport, and Gathering. Catch multiple!

Combat Tips for Beginners

  • Always bring 5+ cooked food for HP regen
  • Craft a shield (after level 6) — it regenerates
  • Use Pals of the opposite element for 2x damage
  • Dodge roll (spacebar during sprint) — invincibility frames
  • Capture, don't kill — you get XP for captures

🌱 Farming & Food Production

Food Production Chain

  1. Level 3: Unlock Berry Plantation
  2. Craft Berry Plantation (20 Wood, 10 Fibre, 5 Stone)
  3. Assign a Fuack or Tanzee to watering/planting
  4. Harvest berries automatically every few minutes
  5. Cook berries at a campfire for +50% hunger restoration

Early food goes a long way. 2 cooked berries per day keeps your character fed, and Pals eat raw berries from the Feed Box.

🔟 Essential Beginner Tips

  1. Build a Pal Box first — it's your base centre and respawn point
  2. Catch 10 of each Pal — you get bonus XP for 10+ captures
  3. Don't overheat/freeze — craft appropriate armour for each biome
  4. Use Pal Souls to upgrade your Pals at the Pal Statue
  5. Prioritise the Grappling Gun (Level 12) — best mobility tool
  6. Build a Hot Spring (Level 10) — restores Pals' SAN
  7. Never fight bosses at night — harder to see, Pals get sleepy
  8. Breeding unlocks rare Pals — set up a Breeding Farm (Level 19)
  9. Craft a flying mount as soon as possible (Nitewing → Level 15 saddle)
  10. Turn on "Auto Drop Pals to Base" in settings — reduces micro-management
