๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Farming Simulator 25 Maps & Field Guide

One of the first and most important decisions in Farming Simulator 25 is choosing your map. Your choice determines the shape of your fields, the distances you'll drive, the terrain you'll work, and ultimately how profitable your farm can be. This guide covers every starting map, the complete field management cycle, land purchase strategy, and how to set up your farm for maximum efficiency.

๐Ÿž๏ธ Map Overview

Farming Simulator 25 ships with three starting maps, each with a distinct character and playstyle. A fourth map is available via the base game's optional download, and many more through DLC and mods.

Map Size Difficulty Terrain Best For Starting Fields
Riverbend Springs Large Easy Flat, open fields, gentle slopes Beginners, large-scale farming ~15 fields (small to large)
Zielonka Medium Medium Rolling hills, European patchwork Intermediate players, mixed farming ~20 fields (varied sizes)
Hutan Pantai Medium Hard Southeast Asian style, terraced fields, narrow roads Experienced players, rice farming ~12 fields (small, irregular)
Haut-Beyleron DLC Medium Medium French countryside, vineyards Wine and grape production ~10 fields + vineyards

Tip: If this is your first time playing a Farming Simulator game, start with Riverbend Springs. The flat terrain makes it easy to learn equipment handling, AI worker paths are cleaner, and the fields are logically arranged.

๐ŸŽฏ Choosing Your First Map

Riverbend Springs โ€” The Beginner's Choice

Riverbend Springs is the default starting map and the best choice for new players. The fields are large, rectangular, and well-organized. Roads are paved and straight, making it easy to navigate with wide equipment. The shop, selling points, and animal dealer are within reasonable distance of the starting farm.

Pros: - Flat terrain โ€” no awkward slopes that cause equipment to tip - Large rectangular fields โ€” AI workers rarely get stuck - All services within a short drive - Good mix of field sizes for early and mid-game expansion

Cons: - Can feel a bit plain compared to the other maps - Some may find it too easy

Zielonka โ€” The European Classic

Zielonka is inspired by Central European farming landscapes. Fields are smaller and more irregular than Riverbend Springs, separated by hedgerows and narrow lanes. This map rewards careful planning and is excellent for players who want a more authentic European farming experience.

Pros: - Beautiful scenery with varied terrain - More interesting field layouts - Plenty of production chain opportunities

Cons: - AI workers struggle with irregular field shapes - Narrow roads can be tricky with large equipment - Requires more manual driving

Hutan Pantai โ€” For Experienced Farmers

Set in a Southeast Asian-inspired landscape, Hutan Pantai features terraced fields, tight roads, and a distinct rice-farming economy. This map introduces unique challenges like water management for paddy fields and very small, irregular plots.

Pros: - Unique rice farming mechanics - Beautiful, detailed environment - Rewards precision driving and planning

Cons: - Not suitable for large American-style equipment - AI workers frequently get confused - Tight spaces make every job slower

Tip: Don't start on Hutan Pantai as your first FS25 experience. Try it after you've learned the basics on Riverbend Springs.

๐ŸŒพ Field Management: The Complete Cycle

Understanding the full field management cycle is essential to maximizing your crop yields and profits. Each step in the cycle affects your final harvest yield percentage.

The 8-Step Cycle

Step Equipment Needed Effect on Yield When Cost
1. Plowing Plow or subsoiler Required for root crops; +15% yield if field was plowed previously After harvest (every 3 harvests) Low
2. Cultivating Cultivator, disc harrow, or power harrow Prepares seedbed; required before seeding After plowing or direct from stubble Low
3. Liming Lime spreader +15% yield bonus Every 3 harvests (when pH drops) Medium
4. Seeding Seeder, planter, or direct drill Starts the crop After cultivating Varies by crop
5. Fertilizing Fertilizer spreader, sprayer, or slurry tank +12.5% per stage (max 2 stages = +25%) At seeding and during growth Medium
6. Rolling Roller +2.5% yield (also pushes stones down) After seeding Low
7. Weeding Weeder or herbicide sprayer Prevents up to -15% yield loss During growth stages Low-Medium
8. Harvesting Combine harvester + header Collects the crop At maturity Equipment cost

Maximum Yield Strategy

To achieve 100% yield on any field:

  1. Plow the field (if needed โ€” look for the "needs plowing" state in the menu)
  2. Lime if the soil pH is low (check soil composition map)
  3. Cultivate to prepare the seedbed
  4. Fertilize (Stage 1) โ€” apply just before or at seeding
  5. Seed the crop
  6. Roll after seeding for a small bonus
  7. Weed mechanically or chemically as weeds appear
  8. Fertilize (Stage 2) โ€” apply during the growth phase

Tip: Using precision farming DLC allows you to see exact soil nutrient levels and apply fertilizer only where needed, saving 20โ€“30% on fertilizer costs while still achieving maximum yield.

๐Ÿก Land Purchase Guide

Buying land is the single most impactful investment you can make in FS25. More land means more crops, more income, and more scaling potential. But not all land is equal.

When to Buy Land

Phase Net Worth Strategy
Early Game Under $200K Don't buy yet. Focus on equipment and doing contracts.
Early-Mid $200Kโ€“$500K Buy your first additional field โ€” small to medium size, near your farm
Mid Game $500Kโ€“$1.5M Buy 2โ€“3 more fields, prioritize fields near your existing ones
Late Game $1.5M+ Buy remaining fields; consider buying entire farms or large plots

What to Look for in a Field

  1. Proximity to your farm โ€” The closer, the less time you waste driving equipment between jobs. Fields adjacent to your current land are ideal.
  2. Shape โ€” Rectangular fields are more efficient and AI-worker-friendly. Avoid triangular or L-shaped fields until you have experience.
  3. Size โ€” Small fields cost less but require disproportionate time for setup and transport. Medium fields (1โ€“5 ha) offer the best balance.
  4. Soil type โ€” Some fields have better base fertility. Check the soil map before buying.
  5. Access โ€” Does the field have a road frontage? Can you get equipment to it easily?

Typical Land Prices

Field Size Price Range Example
Small (under 1 ha) $20Kโ€“$80K A 0.5 ha plot near town
Medium (1โ€“5 ha) $80Kโ€“$300K A 3 ha rectangular field
Large (5โ€“10 ha) $300Kโ€“$700K A 7 ha farm field
Very Large (10+ ha) $700Kโ€“$2M+ A 15 ha field with buildings
Entire farm property $1Mโ€“$5M+ A complete farm with buildings and multiple fields

Tip: You can buy individual fields without buying the entire farm. Check the land tab in the menu (P key) to see which plots are available and their exact boundaries on the map.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ Farm Setup & Building Placement

Where you place your buildings, production facilities, and animal pens is critical to long-term efficiency. Bad placement can cost you hours of extra driving.

Essential Buildings and Where to Place Them

Building Recommended Location Why
Farmhouse Near your first fields Respawn point โ€” you'll come here often
Vehicle shed Central to your fields Protects equipment from weather damage
Silo / Grain storage Near vehicle shed Minimize grain hauling distance
Fuel station Near vehicle shed Fuel up before heading to fields
Workshop Near vehicle shed Repair equipment quickly
Animal pens On flat ground, near grain fields Easy access to feed
Production buildings Near your farm or town Convenient for selling processed goods

The Central Hub Principle

Place your main farm hub as close to the center of your fields as possible. Each second of extra drive time per trip adds up over hundreds of trips. On Riverbend Springs, the starting farm is already well-positioned. On Zielonka, you may want to buy a field with a building for a second hub.

๐Ÿ“‹ Tips for Efficient Field Layout

  1. Group your fields โ€” When buying new fields, prioritize those adjacent to your existing ones. A contiguous block of land is dramatically more efficient than scattered plots.

  2. Remove unnecessary hedges and fences โ€” Use the landscaping tool to clear hedgerows between fields you own. Combine small adjacent fields into larger, more efficient ones.

  3. Leave headland space โ€” When combining fields, leave room at the edges for turning. AI workers need space to turn around cleanly.

  4. Create field access lanes โ€” Use the landscaping tool to create gravel paths between your main farm road and field entrances. Mud slows equipment down.

  5. Consider crop rotation across fields โ€” Plant different crops in different fields to spread harvest times. This prevents a situation where all your fields are ready at once and you can't keep up.

  6. Use grass fields strategically โ€” Dedicate one or two fields to grass for silage production. Grass requires minimal maintenance and silage is extremely profitable through the biogas plant.

  7. Plan for expansion โ€” When setting up your first farm, leave room for future buildings. Nothing is worse than wanting to add a dairy barn and discovering your vehicle shed is in the way.

Tip: On Riverbend Springs, the cluster of fields around the starting farm (fields 1โ€“8) makes an excellent first expansion area. Buying them one by one creates a contiguous empire of prime farmland.

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Map-Specific Strategies

Riverbend Springs

  • Best expansion path: Fields 1โ†’2โ†’3โ†’4 (north and east of starting farm)
  • Best selling point: The grain elevator north of town offers consistently good prices
  • Hidden gem: The small forest plot southeast of field 12 is a great starter forestry area

Zielonka

  • Best expansion path: Buy the farm with fields 7โ€“12 first; it comes with buildings
  • Watch out for: Narrow bridges โ€” don't buy the biggest combine until you know you can cross
  • Hidden gem: The biogas plant is well-positioned for silage operations

Hutan Pantai

  • Best expansion path: Focus on rice fields near water sources first
  • Consider: Keeping equipment small โ€” large Western tractors don't fit on the terraces
  • Hidden gem: The mountain forest offers excellent timber with minimal competition
