๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Palia Maps & Zones Guide

Palia's world spans two main zones โ€” Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay โ€” connected by a network of trails, stable fast-travel routes, and vertical shortcuts using your glider. This guide covers every zone, key landmark, navigation trick, and how to unlock areas as you progress through the game.

Tip: Unlike traditional open-world MMOs, Palia's maps are compact and handcrafted. Everything is within a few minutes' walk once you know the routes. The key is learning the vertical shortcuts.

๐ŸŒ Map Overview

Palia currently features two main explorable zones, with hints at future expansions. Each zone has its own distinct biome, resources, and activities.

Zone Approx. Size Unlock Requirement Key Features
Kilima Valley ~0.5 kmยฒ Starter zone (immediately available) Town, farm, NPC homes, central lake, beginner resources
Bahari Bay ~1.0 kmยฒ Complete "The Void" quest (Early Main Story) Mining caves, high-tier resources, epic fishing, Proudhorn Forest
??? TBA Not yet released Teased as a third zone in development

Connecting the zones: A single overland route runs between Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay through a canyon pass near the southeast corner of Kilima. The stable system also connects the two.

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Kilima Valley โ€” The Starting Zone

Kilima Valley is your home base. It's a peaceful valley with a central village, scattered NPC homesteads, and gentle terrain perfect for learning the basics. You'll spend your first 20-30 hours here before naturally venturing to Bahari Bay.

๐ŸŒŠ Bahari Bay โ€” The Mid-Game Zone

Bahari Bay is larger, more dangerous, and packed with high-value resources. You unlock it by progressing the main story quest "The Void" โ€” roughly 8-12 hours into the game depending on your pace.

How to Unlock Bahari Bay

  1. Complete the main quest "The Dragon's Legacy" (learn about the Phoenix)
  2. Complete "The Void" quest โ€” Jina and Hekla will guide you to the Bahari Bay pass
  3. Walk through the canyon path (southeast of Kilima) or take the stable from Kilima Town

Tip: Don't rush to Bahari Bay before you have at least a Fine Bow and an Iron Pickaxe. The resources are tougher, the animals hit harder, and you'll struggle without upgrades.

๐Ÿƒ Fast Travel System

Palia's fast travel uses Stable Signs โ€” wooden signposts with horse icons found throughout both zones. You unlock the ability to use them early in the main quest.

How Stables Work

  1. Walk up to any Stable Sign and interact with it
  2. A menu shows available destinations with gold costs
  3. Pay the fee to instantly teleport to the chosen sign
  4. The cost increases with distance

Fast Travel Cost Table

Route Cost Travel Time (walking)
Kilima Town โ†” Library 50g ~2 min
Kilima Town โ†” Badruu's Farm 50g ~1.5 min
Kilima Town โ†” Remembrance Beach 50g ~3 min
Kilima Town โ†” Bahari Pass 80g ~4 min
Kilima Town โ†” Pulsewater Plains 150g ~8 min
Kilima Town โ†” Pavel Mines 150g ~10 min
Kilima Town โ†” Bahari Coast 150g ~9 min
Kilima Town โ†” Hideaway Bluffs 150g ~11 min
Pulsewater Plains โ†” Pavel Mines 80g ~3 min
Pulsewater Plains โ†” Bahari Coast 80g ~2.5 min

Tip: Fast travel costs are trivial once you have a steady income (under 200g per hop). Use stables liberally โ€” the time saved is worth far more than 150g. Never walk across the entire map when you can teleport.

Mastering movement in Palia is about understanding the terrain and using your Glider effectively.

Vertical Shortcuts with the Glider

The Glider is your most important navigation tool. You unlock it through the main story, and it changes how you traverse both zones.

Trick How To Best Use
Cliff Launch Run off a high ledge, deploy glider Skip entire climbing routes
Updraft Canyon Launch from high cliffs toward Bahari Fastest way between zones
Tree Launch Climb a tall tree, jump + glide Reach elevated ore deposits
Building Leap Jump from NPC roof spans Town navigation shortcuts
Coast Glide Use wind currents along Bahari coast Rapid east-west travel

Key glider routes: - Kilima Library โ†’ Town: Jump off Library cliff, glide directly south to town center โ€” saves 2 minutes of walking - Bahari Bluffs โ†’ Coast: Leap from Hideaway Bluffs, glide west to Bahari Coast pier โ€” saves 3+ minutes - Pavel Mines โ†’ Flooded Steps: Exit Pavel Mines upper entrance, glide east across the valley

Wall Jumping

Palia has a hidden mobility secret โ€” wall jumping. If you jump against a wall and immediately jump again while pressing into the wall, you can climb surfaces that aren't marked as climbable.

Surface Type Wall Jumpable? Notes
Stone Cliffs Yes Best surface, consistent
Wood Walls Sometimes Building exteriors
Fences No Too low
Trees No Climb marked trees instead
Cave Walls Yes Pavel Mines shortcuts

Tip: Wall jumping is essential for reaching hidden ore deposits in Pavel Mines. The Palium nodes on the upper ledges are only reachable via wall jumps or careful gliding from higher ground.

Terrain Navigation Guide

Terrain Type Movement Best Strategy
Flat ground (Kilima town, Pulsewater Plains) Sprint freely Use speed boost (shift)
Grassy hills (Most of Kilima) Slight slowdown Follow paths, avoid steep angles
Wooded areas (Proudhorn Forest, Elderwood) Moderate slowdown Stick to animal trails
Rocky cliffs (Bahari highlands) Climbing only Wall jump + glider combo
Water Swimming (very slow) Avoid โ€” use bridges or glide over
Caves (Pavel Mines) Walking only Mark your path, caves loop around

Quick Travel Routes Between Zones

From To Fast Travel Recommended Walk Route Time
Kilima Town Bahari Bay Stable (150g) Southeast path โ†’ canyon โ†’ Pulsewater 8 min
Kilima Town Pavel Mines Two stables (230g) Town โ†’ Bahari Pass โ†’ Pavel Mines 10 min
Bahari Coast Proudhorn Forest Walk only Coast โ†’ Pulsewater โ†’ Northeast 5 min
Anywhere Housing Plot Map screen Use "Return to Home" button Instant

๐Ÿ”ฎ Future / Possible New Zones

The Palia development team has hinted at additional zones coming in future updates. Here's what we know (or can speculate based on in-game evidence):

Speculative Zone Evidence Expected Content
The Void Main story quest name, incomplete map Possibly a corrupted/danger zone
The Elderwoods Referenced in lore books Deeper forest zone, new creatures
A New Island Far off-map islands visible from Bahari Coast Ocean content, sailing, new fish
Underground City Zeki's hints, cave system beyond Pavel Massive dungeon-like zone
Airborne / Sky Zone Dragon lore mentions sky temples Glider-focused content, sky creatures

Tip: When new zones drop, the Devs typically add new stable signs to the network immediately. Check your map after major updates for new fast travel points appearing.

Tips for New Zone Preparation

  • Bank resources โ€” Keep 50+ of each refined material (Planks, Bars, Fabric)
  • Save gold โ€” Aim for at least 20,000g emergency fund before new zones
  • Max your tools โ€” Having Exquisite-tier tools makes new content smoother
  • Keep reputation โ€” Don't neglect your friendship with NPCs; new zones often have reputation gates
